Application of KFM Active Filter Media Filters in Wastewater Treatment
To meet the long-term filtration requirements of oily wastewater, we have conducted one-on-one filter bed and filter design based on the specific characteristics and treatment requirements of oilfield wastewater. We utilize the newly produced KFM oily wastewater-specific long-life active filter media from abroad, optimize the internal water distribution, water collection structure, and backwashing process of the filter. Critical flow components adopt titanium materials. Reasonable and economical backwashing intensity is determined through backwashing tests of wastewater with different crude oil densities and resistance characteristics, which shortens the backwashing time and reduces the amount of backwashing water. This improves wastewater treatment efficiency, lowers energy consumption, and saves costs.
The novel active filter media used in the KFM active filter media filter is an active medium made of silicate material. It undergoes 60 manufacturing processes and super hydrophilic modification technology, with a melting point of 1200°C, a specific gravity of approximately 1.25, and is odorless and insoluble in water. This filter media boasts high filtration accuracy, low resistance, stable effluent, strong pollution resistance, easy cleaning, and long life.
The inlet wastewater index requirements are ≤50ppm oil content and ≤50mg/L SS (suspended solids). After treatment, the effluent water quality has an oil content ≤6ppm, SS ≤2mg/L, and a median particle size ≤1.5μm. It demonstrates a significant removal effect for oil and suspended matter in water and is often used in the final process of wastewater treatment.

By grading filter media of different particle sizes, the skid-mounted filter filled with KFM active filter media can achieve two levels of effluent water quality: Grade III coarse filtration and Grade II fine filtration.
